Beautiful April, but dry

SUMMARY

Chamber of Commerce weather for the next two weeks with only one chance of a brief shower. With highs mid 70s to low 80s and low humidity, it’s perfect for just about anything, including watering! Unfortunately, your outdoor pots, vegetables and new transplants are probably going to need this,

FORECAST DISCUSSION

Here’s my only points:

1) Minor cool spells, mostly in low temperature, for this weekend and again next Wednesday and Thursday. Add about 6 degrees to the coldest of the Northshore lows for Southshore lows. Otherwise, north to south differences will not be that great.

2) The feared rain for Easter weekend has disappeared. We could get a brief shower on Good Friday ahead of another minor cool spell.

LONG-RANGE RAMBLINGS

Easter weekend looks great with sunny skies, highs mid 70s, lows 55-60 Northshore, low 60s South. Pretty confident on this forecast, because of this pattern

The color contours show the upper air flow forecast on Good Friday by the European model (courtesy of Tropical Tidbits). See the two eyes staring at you, one off Southern California and the other near Toronto). That’s called an omega-block pattern and that means the weather pattern gets stuck and it often happens in Spring.

Enough of the geeky stuff, what this means is this with persistent NW winds aloft, the area will stay dry with occasional minor cool spells for the next two weeks. The week after Easter should feature plenty of sun with highs 78-82 and lows 63 to 67. Look for the pattern to break about April 25-27.

But…don’t think this means a dry summer. With a warmer than normal Gulf, when a Bermuda High sets in to our East and the winds turn southerly, we will get our share of tropical downpours. However, let’s not rush things.

NW FLORIDA BEACHES

Foreca graphic for Pensacola Beach shows this is still not beach weather. It will be great for camping and fishing with a lot of sun, but with highs mostly in the low to mid 70s and 10 mph winds, it will feel cool. Note that they may get a shower tomorrow and have a chance of getting a bit more rain on Good Friday.
