Beautiful Week; More Humid Sunday

In partnership with

SUMMARY

Evict the frogs; the rain is over for this week and most of next. We’re in for a lovely remainder of the week. A reinforcing cold front that only weather geeks notice will come in Thursday morning (see NWS forecast map below). This means the winds won’t swing to the south until late Friday, giving us a beautiful stretch of warm days with highs in the mid 80s and pleasant nights (lows in the low to mid 60s) with reasonable humidity.

But by Sunday afternoon the humidity will be back and it will start feeling like early summer here next week. But I bet most of you are ready for some swimming pool weather.

FORECAST DISCUSSION

The Foreca graphic overdoes the days with rainfall and is too cool with the highs. I can’t see any chance of meaningful rain here until next Wednesday at the earliest. Even then, I think the graphic overdoes it. The most noticeable feature is the swing to southerly winds Friday afternoon and the increase in humidity — and low temperatures from Saturday through Monday mornings. After last Saturday’s deluge, we are due for a great weekend and this should not disappoint.

LONG-RANGE RAMBLINGS

Expect widely scattered afternoon showers and thundershowers from Wednesday to Friday May 20-22. Highs should be in the mid 80s and lows in the low 70s which means early summer humidity. Then, the tail end of a cold significant front will make its way to the Gulf Coast giving us a chance of more organized showers and storms for Saturday May 23. At this point, it looks like this lacks the upper air support that last weekend’s storms had. So, it may not give us widespread rainfall.

ALABAMA & NW FL BEACHES

Yes! Beach weather is here. Sorry that I cut off the wind speeds, but most are below 10 mph except for the afternoon sea breeze that will reach about 12 mph. All the NW Florida and Alabama beaches should go all of this week, the weekend, and next week through Friday without seeing any rain. If Pensacola had a coral reef — I’d be there most weekends.
