Cooler Week; Warmer Weekend

SUMMARY
After the long-awaited, ill-timed rainfall, this week will bring uneventful and cooler weather followed by a warm weekend. As advertised, the slow moving front had an extended period of showers on the backside. Though the rain is over, the clouds will linger through tonight before thinning out and departing during the day tomorrow. Monday’s low in the 50s and highs in the 60s reminds me of many a gloomy Easter I experienced as a child in New York. Yuk!
Tuesday looks like a gem with highs in the mid 70s with sun and low humidity, but clouds and a chance of light showers returns for Wednesday and Thursday. The weekend will feature highs in the low 80s.

FORECAST DISCUSSION
The Foreca graphic shows the cooler weather. Yes, it will be five days before we hit 80 again. Scattered, very light showers could pop up on the Southshore anytime Wednesday, but I think they’ll hold off until Wednesday night or the pre-dawn hours of Thursday morning along the I-10/12 corridor, if we see them at all. For a change, interior areas should stay dry. .
The winds, which will be easterly through most of the week, will swing to the SE by late Friday ushering back the 80 degree weather with a bit more humidity. I have no idea why the Foreca graphic shows any rain for Monday. If you know a Finn, ask them! (Foreca is produced by Vaisala, a Finnish company.)
LONG-RANGE RAMBLINGS
Model differences rear their ugly head, but for once I’m betting against the European which shows a persistent heat wave from April 14-18. Most models, including the European AI, show a cold front coming through either late in the day Wednesday April 15 or Thursday April 16 followed by a day or two of cooler weather, then increasing heat. I’ll hang my hat with the consensus view.
So….Tuesday Apr 15 & Wednesday April 15 will be warm with highs in the low 80s followed by showers and storms late Wednesday or Thursday. Thursday and Fridays lows in the 50s, highs low-mid 70s followed by 80s for that weekend.
As we move through April, attention turns to long-range outlooks for the summer and hurricane season. I’ll be looking at the forecasts as well as what what my guru Joe Bastardi has to say. Some years, the April outlook is a real guess. This year, I get the feeling that a clearer picture will emerge — so stay tuned and invite your friends to sign up.
