Dry Pattern Resumes

SUMMARY
After a two-day deluge and a bout of dreary weather last week, our mostly dry pattern returns with typical up and down swings of temperature every few days. But first, we must get a broken band of showers through with a cold front before 2 AM tonight. A northwesterly flow aloft will prevent return flow from the Gulf and keep moving the tail ends of cold fronts through our area every 4-6 days as low pressure areas move far to our north. Temperatures will bounce up and down but without freezing cold or South Florida warmth.
For example, take tomorrow. Skies clear and the cool air starts to move in, but highs still reach the upper 50s. Then, Tuesday morning’s lows dip into the upper 30s. By Thursday, morning lows are in the upper 40s with highs near 70. Then, another cold front comes through during the day on Friday, dipping temperatures for the weekend. Rinse and repeat.

FORECAST DISCUSSION
After a quarter inch or so tonight, note the lack of any rain in the Foreca graphic. In fact, next week will be mostly sunny. The coldest temperatures will be Tuesday and Sunday mornings with upper 30s on Tuesday featuring scattered frost in the normally colder places, At the other extreme, Thursday and Friday’s highs should hit 70.
LONG-RANGE RAMBLINGS
Next Tuesday Dec. 16 and Wednesday’s highs should hit the mid 60s with lows in the mid 40s. Showers seem likely for late Tuesday and Wednesday. Next cold front will come approximately that Thursday, Dec. 18. No sign of a serious freeze yet…back to watching football.
