Gilhousen's Too Easy Forecast

SUMMARY

I felt like I hit a meteorological home run when I said that the rain would hold off until early Sunday morning. Denise and I went to a sparsely attended street fair in Slidell Saturday night, Scores of vendors and food trucks stayed home because of the stormy forecast. Geesh — that really validates why I do this and why I hope you’ll let your friends know.

From a challenging forecast to an easy one. After tonight’s and tomorrow morning’s showers in only part of the Northshore (read below), we’ll see 10-11 days of just gorgeously cool spring weather with sunny skies.

AT-A-GLANCE: SLIDELL

FORECAST DISCUSSION

Here’s my key points:

1) Though the heavy rain is over in Louisiana, showers will linger tonight in Hancock and Harrison counties. Parts of East Slidell might catch the western edge of some of these showers, but it won’t amount to much

2) We could see a thin line of brief, light showers move through tomorrow morning anytime from 8 AM to noon as an upper air trough moves through. After that, skies will begin to clear and the humidity will drop.

3) You might note that high and low temperatures don’t excatly agree with the Foreca forecast graph. Sometimes, I think their curve drawing software can’t corner fast enough so my temperatures are just a degree or two more extreme.

4) Look at all that sunshine for the rest of the week! Several lows in the mid and upper 40s are certainly below normal, but with highs in the 70s you won’t complain.

5) There’s a two-day cool down for Friday and Saturday, then temps. push back up but humidity will still be comfortable.

LONG-RANGE RAMBLINGS

Next week will feature moderating temperatures, but still sunny skies with highs 79-82 and lows near 60 with reasonable humidity. Unfortunately, the latest European run moves a rain-making system in for Easter weekend that features several periods of thunderstorms. That would be a bummer, but it’s hardly something we can be certain about since it is 12-14 days away.

After Easter weekend, expect another bout of cooler than normal and dry weather.

My long-range guru, who I help fund, is working hard on his seasonal hurricane forecast and I expect an update in another week or two. I’ll tweak it and pass it along as soon as I receive it.

ALABAMA & NW Florida Beach Forecast

Coming soon. Temperatures and rainfall forecasts will be similar to ours in the next two weeks with the exception that they might get a brief shower Friday morning. It will be great for shopping and cleaning up your condo, but hardly beach weather until perhaps just before Easter for a few days.
