Lovely week of weather starting Friday

SUMMARY
Yes, summer has returned with almost hot and definitely humid weather, but a backdoor cold front approaching from the northeast Thursday evening will bring some great early fall weather our way. Highs will drop to the low 80s with some upper 50s as lows in many rural areas of the Northshore. With low humidity, it will feel like the season has changed. Though temperatures will rise by about 5 degrees by next Wednesday, the humidity will stay low.
About the only negatives are this: No rain is in sight and the next cold front may not come through until about Wednesday Oct. 22, 3-4 days later than I had hoped. Details follow.

FORECAST DISCUSSION
The Foreca graphic comes pretty close. The low temperatures are a bit too cool this weekend - otherwise this looks fine. Inland rural areas (Folsom, Bush, Saucier…) are sure to see mid-upper 50s, but highs may rebound to upper 80s in those areas by the middle of next week.
LONG-RANGE RAMBLINGS
It’s not clear when the next rain will chances will happen, but the next cold front appears delayed until Wed. Oct. 22 so it may not happen until then. From late next week through the weekend of Oct. 18I see highs mid-upper 80s lows 60s with generally fair weather.
In the tropics, Jerry should eventually become a hurricane and brush by some of the northern Leeward Islands — probably causing fringe effects. Then, it will head out to sea just like the others this year. Again, I just can’t see anything making it from the Main Development Region to the US. The storm that will develop off the Carolinas in the next few days and stalling somewhere off the East Coast may take on hybrid — mixed tropical and winter storm — characteristics. It will produce rough seas, winds, rain, but not significant damage.

ALABAMA & NW FL BEACHES

Foreca graphic shows a lovely stretch of weather with maybe a light shower in the next few days. Though highs will be near 80 and lows in 60s - perfect for camping or anything outdoors — the surf could be high because of the winds this coming weekend.
Unless I hear objections, I will discontinue the Foreca graphic for Pensacola Beach sometime next weekend until next April.
