Nice week but humidity goes up on Thurs

Halloween shower threat increases

SUMMARY

I’ve run out of clever things to say about our beautiful weather. Besides, I’m dead tired considering that I drove for 9 hours today from Pittsburgh to the Cumberland Plateau of East Tennessee. I finally found a state whose roads are worse than Louisiana: West Virginia!

The nice weather with low humidity and cooler mornings will hang on through Wednesday. Then, the humidity will go up along with night time temperatures. Daytime highs will rise from 79 tomorrow to the 83-84 range by late week. That will place us above average for a change since average highs should be about 79 this time of year.

Unfortunately, the next chance of showers looks like its going to be Halloween Saturday evening and during the night time hours. The reason: Winds will turn a bit to the southeast and upper air conditions will be favorable. The three models that I look at the most all agree on this, but since we’re six days out, a timing error of 6 or more hours is certainly possible. Fingers crossed that the showers move through earlier or later that night or even Sunday. My take is that scattered showers will be in the area for 8 hours and that the Foreca graphics below spread this out because of uncertainty of timing.

LONG-RANGE RAMBLINGS

Conditions will remain warmer and more humid than normal Monday Nov. 2 through Wednesday Nov. 4. Showers should not be a problem during this period, but fog might be. The European AI and physics-based models are advertising a cold front about Nov. 5 with another chance of showers and thunderstorms. Then, there will be a return to lows in the low 50s and highs in the mid to upper 70s for a few days.
