Showery Week After Easter

SUMMARY
We did have a few showers around today, but you had to look closely at the radar to find them so I probably shouldn’t have said anything. Strong moisture flow from the Gulf and a dying front to provide lift means more widespread, but still scattered showers Monday-Thursday, and a nice upcoming weekend. Not expecting showers everyday at any given location, nor expecting a lot of rain. A few places will get only a few tenths, with a lucky few getting an inch, but the difficult thing will be the location and timing. The larger totals will probably be in Tangipahoa, West St. Tammany, Washington Parishes plus Pearl River County.
AT-A-GLANCE: SLIDELL

FORECAST DISCUSSION
Here’s my key points:
1) Agree with Foreca that the better rain chances are tomorrow and Tuesday — 60 or 70%. Monday’s rain chances and amounts should be higher in West St. Tammany, Tangipahoa, Washington Parishes plus Pearl River County — May not get much in Harrison and Hancock counties.
2) Tuesday and Wednesday will see scattered showers with no discernable pattern. Tueday’s chances and amounts should be higher than Wednesday’s.
3) Thursday’s chances of rain will greatly diminish along the I-12 / I-10 corridor from Hammond - Mandeville-Slidell - Gulfport and on the Southshore. Much more sun than clouds here. Scattered showers somewhat more likely in inland areas, say from Amite-Bush-Picayune and north
4) Friday and into next weekend look nice with early summer sunshine. Highs will rise into the mid 80s.
5) Again, noticed that I bumped up the Foreca high by a few degrees plus I don’t see any rain from Friday-Sunday.
LONG-RANGE RAMBLINGS
Expect the warm, dry, early summer weather that starts on Friday to continue through Tuesday - Wednesday April 29-30. Highs mid 80s - nice early season swimming weather and not bad for tennis, golf, or gardening in the morning. Next shower system coming in anytime from Wednesday April 30 - Friday May 2.
ALABAMA & NW FLORIDA BEACHES

Foreca graphic for Pensacola Beach shows nice early season beach weather for late week and next weekend. Water will still be cold for us Southerners (upper 70s) , but with sunny skies, highs about 80, and light winds you can certainly enjoy the beach, dip your toe in the Gulf, and hit the pool. Air temperatures will be a few degrees warmer just a few blocks inland. The stretch from Destin-Panama City could even be a degree or two warmer.
Until then….Winds tonight and tomorrow will stir up surf and cause rip tides. Slight chance of showers Tuesday.
