Getting Warmer...and Drier

SUMMARY
Could we be done with lows in the 40s? That’s certainly the case for the next two weeks where lows won’t dip below the mid 50s.. With several highs in the low 80s, spring warmth is on but with humidity levels that will be low to tolerable. After showers tomorrow, a fine stretch of weather through Saturday morning.
Then, a few showers chances will damper next weekend followed by another great first week of April but with dry conditions. So the big question is whether these showers will give us an inch or more to reduce fire weather danger. Some areas will get the inch and some won’t as rainfall gets more spotty in April.

FORECAST DISCUSSION
Here’s my key points:
1) Showers and thunderstorms moving quickly from the NW anytime from 4:30 to 7 AM tomorrow (Monday). A few drips possible for another two or three hours with total rainfall ranging from only a tenth to maybe a little over a half inch. Skies should clear by late afternoon.
2) Patchy fog Tuesday morning.
3) Next shower chance Saturday anytime from noon to evening. Return flow from Gulf seems more impressive, so this could be our best chance at the needed inch — BUT models have tended to overdue rainfall 5 days out and then reduce it as the time approaches. Too early to say.
4) Another chance of showers or storms Sunday mid-day or afternoon.
5) Week beginning March 31 appears dry as systems across the South get stuck. Next Monday and Tuesday will feature lows in 50s, highs in mid 70s — after than highs upper 70s to low 80s.
LONG-RANGE RAMBLINGS
Concern is mounting for a dry April because of NW flow aloft. We could go the first 8 or 9 days without seeing any rain, then only three or four chances the rest of the month. That’s not good news for the fire weather danger or gardening where we’ll need to keep the hose handy. Again, I sure hope all of us see a solid inch this week.
The only good news is that it will be a little cooler than normal with many highs stopping in the 70s.
MY ENCOUNTER WITH A TORNADO

OK…not a real, life-sized one, but a more youthful me demonstrating a tornado with a machine that I helped build. Read more about how God lead me in this by clicking here.
Are you an elementary or junior high teacher, scout leader, and want a demonstration of the Teaching Tornado? Or, maybe you just want something more educational for a birthday party? I’m still available. Students get involved by twisting pipes, taping holes, and adjusting fan speeds to learn a bit about how tornadoes form and die. Lively discussions with questions and answers often follow.
